Disseminating details of the thirteenth season on January 23, Grosvenor officials confirmed the 2019 GUKPT will give away at least £2.3 million over the course of nine legs. Kicking off with a stop in the capital, the new season will also feature a selection of low stakes events.

GUKPT 2019 Schedule

Leg 1 – London – Jan 26 to Feb 3

Leg 2 – Manchester – March 3 to March 10

Leg 3 – Edinburgh – March 31 to April 7

Leg 4 – Luton – June 2 to June 9

Leg 5 – London – June 30 to July 7

Leg 6 – Leeds – Sept 8 to Sept 15

Leg 7 – Luton – Oct 6 to Oct 13

Leg 8 – Blackpool – Nov 3 to Nov 10

Leg 9 – GUKPT Grand Final London – Nov 18 to Dec 1

Mini Main Events Open Up GUKPT

Part of Grosvenor’s push to attract more casual players, Mini Main events will feature on every leg of the main tour. Costing 10% of their GUKPT Main event counterparts, the tournaments will feature prizepools ranging from £10,000 to £20,000.

In a change to this year’s schedule, Grosvenor will be hosting Mini Main starting days online. Offered as an addition to the offline Day 1 sessions, the MTTs will complement an enhanced selection of satellites on Grosvenorpoker.com.

The decision to offer more online routes to the GUKPT comes after Rank Interactive reported a dip in live earnings. Issuing a profit warning in 2018, the parent company of Grosvenor saw a two percent drop in revenue across its network of bingo halls and betting shops.

Despite the decrease in footfall, Rank Interactive revenue improved by 17 percent. The year-on-year improvement was help, in part, by the GUKPT’s growing selection of online MTTs and satellites.

Buoyed by these improvements, the operator is giving more ways for players to take part in the UK’s longest running poker tour.

Points Make Prizes this Season

The final improvement to this year’s GUKPT schedule is the National League. Running throughout 2019, the league gives players the chance to win one of 77 prizes, including GUKPT main event seats worth £1,100 each.

Entry to the league is free and players will earn points based on the entrance fee, the number of runners and their finishing position. As well as earning points in GUKPT Main and Mini Main events, players can take part in the league by playing in the following:

25/25 tournaments.

Grosvenor deep stacks.

Seasonal specials.

Goliath Main Event and High Roller.

UKSPC High Roller.

Online GUKPT £10K (a new series of events taking place at 6pm on the final Sunday of every GUKPT).

Online GCOOP Main Event (Sunday, May 5).

Despite running for 13 years, interest in the GUKPT is higher than ever. Last year, Grosvenor’s marquee tournament, the Goliath, broke another record.

Taking place at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, the £125 tournament welcomed 7,584 entrants, making it the largest live poker tournament outside of the US. With the Goliath raising  standards once again, GUKPT officials are hoping new innovations will see even more players ante-up in 2019.
