888 signs deal with South African gaming group

Online gaming group 888 have announced a new deal with the Tsogo Sun Gaming Group from South Africa. This is the second big deal for 888 this month after already singing a massive deal with US casino operator Harrah’s Entertainment.

This new deal will see a joint venture between 888′s B2B (business-to-business) division, Dragonfish, and Tsogo Sun Gaming Group in order to expand the South African brand into online gaming.

“This partnership is the first of many targeted at regulated markets, where Dragonfish’s partners operate under local licenses and enjoy the benefits of such regulatory arrangement” stated Gabi Campos, managing director of Dragonfish.

The news of the new deal has also had a positive effect on 888′s shares, which are currently 0.9p higher at 94.25p.

Online gaming group 888 have announced that a deal to use the 888 software in the UK has been done with US casino operator Harrah’s Entertainment.

The new deal will see 888′s Dragonfish unit support the launch and roll out of Harrah’s World Series of Poker (WSOP) and Caesars Casino brands for the UK market.

“It’s an amazing deal if the U.S. market opens up to online gaming one day and it’s a good deal even if it’s Europe only. We have more big American deals in the pipeline for the B2B unit,” chief executive Gigi Levy said in an interview to Reuters.

While financial details were not announced, Levy said the deal was worth “millions of dollars” and would be earnings enhancing in 2010.
