Patrik Antonius wins biggest ever online poker handPro poker player Patrik Antonius has won the largest ever pot in online poker history, a staggering $878,958.50, from Isildur1.

The battle took place at the high stakes tables of Full Tilt Poker, a pot-limit Omaha game played over 4 tables. It seems beyond belief that Antonius was willing to take on Isildur1, who has been clobbering all comers lately at the high stakes tables. Nevertheless, Antonius took the risk and it paid off for him, as Isildur1’s previous high stakes profit lead has now been greatly diminished.

While the entire game between Antonius and Isildur1 saw many massive pots, the biggest online hand in history was something else entirely. Isildur1 began with a $3,000 raise that was called by Antonius, and the flop came down Queen Spades / 7 Hearts/ 5 Hearts. Antonius checked and Isildur1 tossed in another $5,000, only to meet with a $21,000 check-raise from Antonius, which Isildur1 called.

An Ace Diamonds on the turn saw Antonius make a bet of $48,000 to double the pot, and the pot was doubled again by Isildur1. The response from Antonius was to go all-in, and Isildur1 called after only brief consideration. This pushed the pot to become the largest in online poker history at $878,958.50.

At this point, Isildur1 and Antonius’s cards were revealed; Ace Spade / King Spades / Queen Diamonds / 10 Hearts for Isildur1 and Ace Hearts / Queen Jacks / 9 Spades / 6 Hearts for Antonius. If the river had fallen without tipping the action in either player’s favour, it would have been a split pot, with both players holding the same two pairs. Unfortunately for Isildur1, the river card was the 8 Diamonds giving Antonius a 9-high straight, and the honour of winning the biggest ever pot in online poker.

From there, it continued to be a great run for Patrik Antonius, who finished up his play with Isildur1 at $2.9 million in winnings. Isildur1’s ended $2.5 million in the hole, but he had at least improved his position in play against Brian Townsend, who handed over $440,000.
