Spanish Blackjack

Online Blackjack at All Slots Casino

Spanish Blackjack, also commonly referred to as Spanish 21, is a recent variation on standard Blackjack that has seen a rise in popularity amongst online casino players. The variant is now licensed by Masque Publishing, and has only been around since its emergence in Las Vegas casinos in 1995. A similar game, although using different rules and no dealer hole card, is known as Pontoon, and is commonly played in Australia.

Spanish Blackjack follows a similar playing style to standard Blackjack, but uses several different rules. Landing Blackjack is the same as usual, however it is made slightly more difficult by the absence of all "10" cards. Because of this, all six to eight decks used will be made up of 48 cards, rather than 52.

Rules vary from online casino to online casino, but the majority will enforce that the dealer stand on soft 17, hitting on 16. Blackjack is paid out at the standard rate of 3:2, regardless of the dealer landing Blackjack as well.

Surrender is an added rule that allows players to forfeit their hand.

As long as the dealer does not draw Blackjack, players may Surrender and receive half of their bet back.

The option to Surrender is even extended to Doubling; the player may take back the double portion of the bet, while the dealer will collect the original wager.

Doubling is allowed on any two cards, while Splitting is an option at any time when the player receives two cards of equal value. Cards do not have to be identical, only equal in value i.e. a player may Split their hand of Jack-King as they both have a face value of 10.

Five-card 21s pay 3:2, six-card 21s pay 2:1, and seven or more-card 21s pay a lucrative 3:1. There are also other ways to earn an extra payout on particular hands. For example, a 21 made up of 6-7-8 or 7-7-7 pays out 3:2, if they are of the same suit you will receive 2:1, and if they are all spades you will be paid out at 3:1.

Some online casinos choose to add extra rules as they see fit, but the majority will stick to these rules only. Spanish Blackjack is an exciting twist on the popular table game, and can be enjoyed at most online casinos.
